Wireless Router
This is a device which performs the functions of a router but it also includes the functions of a wireless access point as well so as to be able to connect to a wired connection to the internet. It is commonly used to allow access to the internet or a computer network without the need for a cabled or wired connection. This can function in a wired Local Area Network, a wireless only Local Access Network or a mixed wire/wireless network. Most current wireless routers have a few components within them to include LAN ports, WAN ports and wireless antennae.
Computer
By definition in semi-specific terms, a computer is a programmable machine that receives input, stores and manipulates data, and provides output in a useful format. By way of everyday life, a computer is a link to our world whether it is personal or business related. This is physically connected to the network and is a direct link to any information relayed via the modem and/or router.
Firewall
This is a part of a computer system or network that is designated to block unauthorized access while permitting authorized communications. It is a device or set of devices which is configured to permit or deny computer applications based upon a set of rules or other criteria. This is an optional part of the network; however, it is strongly recommended that a firewall be installed.
Wireless Access Point
A Wireless Access Point or WAP is a device that allows wired communications to connect to a wireless network using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or any other related standard. The WAP usually connects to a router and can relay data between the wireless devices such as computers or printers and wired devices on the network. This device is definitely a necessity for the network.
