After analysing company like Wal-Mart which is at the top on the list of fortune five hundred companies, it was identified that the performance of the company in the international market has not been satisfactory. After analysing the balance sheet with the help of financial ratios it was seen that the investments made in international market was enable to profitable revenue. Local market of US is becoming stagnant for retail giant like Wal-Mart, due to its sluggish growth and economic downturn. Wal-Mart even after being world’s largest retailer and proved to be one of the most successful one, has not been able to in cash all the opportunities available. The basic reason for Wal-Mart’s unsatisfactory performance was their conventional model and method of management. It come into sight that Wal-Mart has a fixed way of doing things, the management techniques that proved to be successful for their stores in US, They try to implement the same techniques in international market where they are expanding .After conducting a research which involved Store managers of Wal-Mart of five different countries filling up a questionnaire, the results showed that four out of five stores managers suggested there can be improvement, Wal-Mart change the language of their sign board when they enter new international market, but it is not enough to attract customers unless the management and operation style was modified according to socio-culture environment of those specific areas. To overcome these problems Wal-Mart should concentrate on globalization as well as localization; such Glocalisation will help the company to improve its performance.
