Many students would feel anxious before a test and here are some ways to help you combat your test anxiety.

First, mentally, the goal is to develop and reinforce your study habit. When you prepare all your work in advance, you will gain more confident and less fearful. Start by preparing for your exam months in advance, so you have a lot of time to study and reinforce your knowledge. Allow enough time to improve your weaker areas. Organize a study group to keep you on track and help you to review your sessions.

Second, physically, you need to look after your body well so that your brain can perform at its best. There are many ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle, eat healthy, exercise regularly, and make sure you get enough sleep.

Emotionally, you must find ways to feel stronger and more confident. See yourself as greater than the exam and think that you can overcome it easily. Visualize yourself doing well on your exam and schedule enough time to relax.

In addition to the physical reactions to anxiety, there is a mental component at work as well. Anxiety can be created by a person's expectations concerning what is likely to happen. These expectations may be expressed in words to oneself, mental pictures, or physical symptoms. If a student believes, for example, that he or she is going to perform poorly, has not studied enough, or will appear foolish, that person will have an emotional reaction consistent with that expectation. The mental state of the student produces a corresponding emotional reaction.

Avoidance is a typical behavior pattern of students who experience test anxiety. Most students who experience test anxiety also have a problem with procrastination.
