Nadiah Firstly, lets look at this Quality Study done in 2013. It shows that VW (here in red) is below the Industry standards (that black bar)! It is not on par with other brands due to it's quality standards. This will affect sales and brand image. Hence, quality management is extremely important when it comes to products like cars that need to have quality assurance.It will mean evaluating the appropriateness and efficiency of processes, products and services. By doing so, it helps to tackle poor quality parts and rectify root issues promptly. ISO 9001; international organization standardization to establish a processoriented and certified quality mgt system that complies with given standards. It has requirements that an organization must fulfil to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and to enhance customer satisfaction. When a company has high standard protocols, while there is a higher production cost to ensure a flawless production, it will minimize the number of product recalls and need for excessive inventory. HM Firstly, VW can adopt a six sigma philosophy in the way they approach their business processes. Six Sigma is a process improvement strategy that involves evaluation of processes to improve quality and efficiency. VW can get some of its management staff to be certified in Six Sigma methodology and apply their learnings in its production. The key approach will be to use the DMAIC model. D for Define, M for measure, A for Analyze, I for Improving the design, C for control and verification. This will help to troubleshoot and refine production processes. It also includes regular analysis of scorecard metrics to detect performance trends.
