Philosophy of Teaching

I have spent a very long time thinking of what it would mean to me to become a teacher. Am I capable of such a responsibility? In coming up with my own philosophy I first tried looking at my own personality. What traits do I have that will help me to become a great teacher? A great teacher in my eyes is someone who is fun, caring, nurturing, consistent, persistent, and of course a good facilitator of learning. I really feel that I possess all of these traits. I always think of those few special teachers who influenced me. They influenced me to learn and enjoy learning. They showed me everyday how each and every student was special in their own way and we are all capable of being stars. A teacher in my eyes is someone who takes on a very important role in a student’s life. Becoming a teacher makes me feel like I will make a difference in each one of my student’s lives. They will go on remembering me as the one who influenced them.

It is important for me to remember that my students are our future. I believe that all children are distinct individuals and are capable of bringing something unique and special to the world. I will help children to develop their potential by believing in them and by assisting them in discovering who they are. It is important to me to create a classroom family where each of my students is treated with love, care and affection while still maintaining a structured educational environment. I believe that the self-worth within a child begins in my hands. It is of upmost importance that I reinforce the value of self in my students from the very beginning. This will allow the children to grow up to be strong, caring and compassionate human beings. I hope to be a positive influence everyday for them through my passion for teaching.
