When writing a paper, an individual must anticipate the challenges that can arise. Throughout the course of the essay, it is imperative that the writer remain focused and stay of track with their writing. One of the challenges that a student may run into is the lack of a clear thesis statement. A thesis statement states the argument or thesis of the writer in the essay. It is the section of the paper that unmistakably specifies the dispute within the work. This is generally at the end of the first paragraph in the paper. Another issue that can frequently arise is the use of fragment and run-on sentences. Fragment sentences fail to become a sentence in the sense that they cannot stand alone because they lack independent clauses. Run-on sentences are two or more sentences where the independent clauses have been inaccurately joined. The biggest issue that typically occurs when writing is grammatical errors. A grammatical error is the term used for an instance of faulty, unconventional, or controversial use, such as a comma splice or misplaced modifier. These mistakes are very common; however, if they are left within the paper, the writer will be taken less seriously or receive a lower grade.

The ability to overcome challenges in writing is only attainable by proper planning beforehand. In my writing, there are several methods that I will use to help me surpass these obstacles that lie in my way of a fantastically well-written paper. At the beginning, jotting down ideas will help to build from. Two separate thoughts, can sometimes lead the writer to forming a conjoined idea. In the rough draft, by just writing freely can be an insurmountable help. After all of the initial plans have been laid-out and the rough draft has been written out, the editing process starts.
