Club IT Part One

This paper discusses challenges faced by Club IT, a downtown dance club, seeking to succeed in the competitive nightclub industry. To better understand the Club’s challenges, a description of its current resources and how they benefit the business is offered. In addition, a brief discussion is presented explaining the reasons why a specific business strategy and information technology upgrade is recommended to help the club gain a competitive business advantage.

Club IT’s Mission

Club IT is a relatively new downtown night club that offers a fun and high energy atmosphere to gather, eat, and dance. Its owners Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada are talented musicians and business educated entrepreneurs (About Club IT, 2010). They have done an excellent job of using some of their resources to remodel the club, designed to help build clientele. Ruben and Lisa, however, now agree that it is time to focus on enhancing their information management system to help build not only clientele, but also to help achieve the Club’s mission.

Club IT’s mission is to create a community that meets regularly and to offer the best in music, food, and refreshments that suits their clientele’s lifestyle ("About Club IT", 2010). Ruben and Lisa seek to attract a diverse clientele. To do so, they have created a monthly music schedule which includes the use of live bands and DJ’s playing a variety of music such as Jazz, Country, and Latin, to name a few. Both Ruben and Lisa have degrees in Business Administration and understand that to achieve the Club’s mission, they must know who their clientele is, what business strategy to adopt, and determine which resources can give them a competitive advantage.
