Between the ancient civilizations of the Mayan, Aztec, and Inca each one has their own adaptation to the physical environment.

Let us start with the Mayan civilization, See in the Yucatan Peninsula (very tropical) there were no watercourses (rivers) on the surface; however there is a large subsurface watercourse structure. Therefore, platforms made of clastic rock were created by the Mayans to catch water from rain so that is how they had fresh water.

In terms of food, I understand that they would set certain areas on fire, and have osprey act like a scarecrow and eat the lesser animals that would come around so that they could plant their crops, which were things such as Corn, Beans, and Pumpkin all of which helped each other to grow for their harvest.

Next we have the Aztecs; to me they seemed the most resourceful overall. While they did have small farming they were truly hunters when it came to food. See the people of the Tenochtitlan city had it somewhat made if you ask me. I say this because they lived in a semi-dessert area and they had Lake Texicoco, which is where they hounded for fish. So with that said they plenty of resources that they were able to use and adapt to.

Finally we have the Inca civilization, The Inca civilization lived high above in the clouds, in the high pasture of the Andes Mountains. Here for the Inca people it was hard for them to get oxygen they needed so regular work was hard for them. However, over time they developed bigger lung capacities. They also built platform for plant crops.

Overall, all three civilizations have made their own contributions that survives in Latin American culture today. They have helped form the culture and habits that we have presently; they were able to carry on many things such as agriculture, Science and Engineering just to name a few.
