Story:
I am a big advocate for No Smoking in public places. Restaurants, bars and clubs have all just on that No Smoking policy. My boyfriend is addicted to smoking. He smokes after everything he does, shower, eating, sex and even if he has been sitting to long. Don’t let something upset him he won’t put the pack down. We can go from point A to point B and he has to have a cigarette that turns in to 2 or 3 for a 30 minute drive. What do you do?
There is this fear that I will get cancer from second hand smoke. So, he is not allowed to smoke in my car or even in the house, but his car is a different story. According to National Cancer Institute women (no smoker) are leading men (no smoker) in Lung Cancer. Statistics show that women between the age of “40-79 the range is 14.4 to 20.8 per 100,000 person per year and men between age of 40-79 range from 4.8 to 13.7 per 100,000 person per year” (Wakelee, HA, Chang, ET & Gomez, SL, 2007). When you explain to smoker that they may be harming you with the smoke, they just brush you off or tell you to get away if the smoke is bother you. They have no concern for the next person.

Debi continued to smoke but had to smoke through her tracheostomy. For me that would have scared me straight if no other “No Smoking” advertisement/documentary worked. I believe that the documentary/advertisement was a wakeup call for some smokers and some smokers may have thought the advertisement/documentary was sickened. My boyfriend went out and bought an E-Cigarette and was doing really good until he dropped the E-Cigarette and broke it. He went right back to smoking...
