Career Development Plan Part I – Job Analysis and Selection

The merger between InterClean and EnviroTech has finally happened. This merger will reveal a new strategic plan which will require jobs to be re-evaluated and changes to be made to accommodate the new goals of the company. This company will no longer sell only cleaning products, but will also provide full-service cleaning solutions for organizations in the health care industry. There will be five new positions to be filled by a current InterClean or EnviroTech employee. Different methods will be used to assure that the very best selections are made.

A job analysis has been conducted in order to list the main job duties and responsibilities that will pertain to the new sales department. The job analysis was completed by conducting structured questionnaires of current employees and managers. This method was chosen because it is generally a quick and easy method to administer. They also deliver accurate results based on the input of employees in the corporation who are familiar with it. The main job duties include:

1. Maintain a thorough comprehension of all company products and services.

2. Prepare presentations, proposals and sales contracts.

3. Contact potential customers and educate them on our products and services, be able to explain to them how we will be able to fulfill their cleaning needs. Set up appointments with these potential customers and show them presentations about the company and what we offer.

4. Remain effective, reach goals and retain all existing customers by keeping a relationship with them. Always make follow up calls and quality checks to assure they are satisfied.

Strong communications skills are a must for these positions. Negotiation and presentation skills are also very important. The working conditions are normal for an office environment and this job will require a significant amount of...
