LANGUAGE EXPERIENCE APPROACH

I- TOPIC: Summer Fun

II- OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:

* Cognitive: Provide students with information about summer fun in their town

* Psychomotor: Demonstrate fun and leisure while doing recreational activities

* Affective: Establish interconnectedness in grammar and in people’s lives through unity and clarity in a relationship.

The activities in this lesson (although not arranged systematically) will cater the four fundamental skills in learning English that are:

* Vocabulary

* Library Skills

* Reading Comprehension

* Literary Appreciation

III- PROCEDURE

A. Activating Prior Knowledge

* “Under my Umbrella” (est. time: 15min)

a. Bring an umbrella in the class and have the students guess what they should do about it. Let the students form a big circle.

b. Tell them that they are got to create a story out of the umbrella as a class and they should contribute 1 sentence each to complete the story.

c. Begin the story with: “Once upon a summer time, under my umbrella…”

d. Pass around the umbrella. Instruct them to write their sentences in the umbrella and right after they write it, they’ve got to read it.

e. After they have taken turns adding events in the story, read it aloud after the class and let them notice what’s lacking in it.

f. Let them guess what will be the lesson for the day.
