The Uses and Tools of Marketing

The subconscious mind will always articulate to the body what it wants and desires to sustain a balance of contentment. Consumer awareness and the art of wanting to buy a specific item are byproducts of successful marketing. Marketing is an extremely important aspect in business since it contributes greatly to the success of the organization. Production and distribution depend largely on marketing. Marketing in itself differs from sales. Marketing covers advertising, promotions, public relations, as well as sales. The definition of marketing will explain the importance it plays in organizational success through following three examples presented below. For a business to thrive, the product or service that is provided must be known to potential buyers. “Unless your business is known in the community and have communication with your customers readily available, you have to use marketing strategies to create product or service awareness” (Lorette, 2012).

The dictionary definition of marketing is; “all business activity involved in the moving of goods from the producer to the consumer, including selling, advertising, packaging, etc.” (Websters New World College Dictionary, 2010). From a more personal view, marketing can be explained as an idea that cleverly presents a product or service that encourages a potential buyer to desire a certain item. For example, brightly colored art schemes bring a visual stimulation to a buyer while a commercial or video that focuses on a certain consumer demographic can stimulate the need to buy a certain article. “Marketing is the performance of activities that seek to accomplish an organization’s objectives by anticipating customer or client needs and directing a flow of need satisfying goods and services from producer to customer or client” (Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2011).
