The legalization of Marijuana

I am going to be writing about the legalization of marijuana. This is an ethical issue in some parts of the world that have been in debate over the decades. I am going to write the paper from a different point of view, I am not going to be saying marijuana is a drug and should stay illegal, but instead I am going for the legalization of marijuana. Over the year research have proven marijuana has helpful properties that can aid in the treatment process of much illness. I am also going to show medical benefits are endless and outweigh any ethical issue or problem and how my culture has aid my view on the legalization of marijuana.

Legalizing marijuana has always been a controversial topic. It is one of those topics people tip toe around; there will always be a 50/50 vote when it comes to its legalization. Marijuana has been use by the cultures for centuries and for different reasons. I grew up in Jamaica, a country which is known for its marijuana use. In Jamaica marijuana use is as common as cigarette smoking in the U.S. I have seen my grandmother make tea with the plant, I have heard her give other people advise what to use the plant for; nausea, insomnia and even help with asthma. I never really understood as child why I would always see people smoking marijuana or boiling marijuana to make tea.

The laws pertaining to marijuana in Jamaica are more relaxed compared to the laws in the U.S. In Jamaica marijuana is cheaper than a can of soda or even candy. So to Jamaicans marijuana is like he air we breathe, it very easy grasp. This is to show that there is little to no ethical issue in Jamaica when it comes to marijuana. In the U.S there are more strict laws on the drug and can be a very big ethical issue.
