“Economic Development in the High Schools: Meeting Community Workforce needs at the Foundational Level“ explores the workforce development initiatives for high school aged students. Particular focus is paid to students who have dropped out of high school and students who graduate high school but still lack the basic skills to become gainfully employed. Because of the age group, the paper focuses on those programs implemented within the High School Setting. Some programs are partnerships between the school and outside agencies but the goal is the same; assist students in attaining professional work experience of training before they exit high school. |
