The establishment that I decided was Xtreme Bean Coffee shop in Tempe, Arizona. I choose this place because I figured that a variety of people visit coffee shops. People go to coffee shops for different reasons. It could be the location, food or drinks that are served, the things that go on at the establishment that have people as return customers.

I originally felt very awkward sitting in the coffee shop doing this assignment. I often visit this coffee shop and other ones as well but I have never taken the time out to observe or pay attention to other patrons that go there outside of myself. As I looked around I realized that the language used at Xtreme beans was different. For instance, at Starbucks I am used to people using terms like venti, tall and grande to describe the size of the drink they want to order and at this coffee shop I didn’t hear any of that. The staff was very friendly and performed their job as if theywere part of an assembly line. They were friendly amongst each other and were professional at the same time.

After looking around for a few minutes I decided to take a seat in the back of the establishement near a window so I could observe most everything without looking to odd. I assume that most of the customers that came into Xtreme bean were college/high school students because of it’s location there were however a few groups that were holding some type of meetings. I am a big fan of Starbucks coffee but I never sit and enjoy my drink so I never took time to think of the type of atmoshere a coffee shop has. As I thought about my purpose for being at the coffee shop I realized that each person serves an important purpose for the coffee shop. They were sitting around having some form of conversation and even do work on laptops or tablets. This is the impression I got from hearing the group next to me discuss scriptures from the bible and others eloborating on their understanding of said scripture. With signs of studying and...
