Fast Food: Killing A Generation

America. Fast food. The two marry together as like unto a husband that is betrothed to his wife. Connected to her in a lifetime partnership and romance that begins as early as a young teenage love, and carries them both through decade after decade of endless intimacy. But one must ask, how true and committed is this kind of love? Is it one that will abandon you at the altar or even desert you in a time of sickness? When you first think of the term Fast Food, what comes to mind? Perhaps various chains of restaurants such as Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, Wendy’s, or the ever and likely most popular, McDonald’s. Society in general, well for the most part, has opened a small place in their hearts for the Big Mac, Fries and icy cold thick Milkshake that are housed under the golden arches. I mean let’s face it; they have been a long time, generation after generation, family favorite. Especially when you find yourself in a hurry and need a quick bite to eat, in route to an after work sporting event or even a late in the day meeting. With the many options of food choices that are available today, why is it that so many Americans choose the “fast food” meal in lieu of the more health conscious one? We are all aware that we need to make more healthy decisions for not only ourselves but also our families. So since fast food only meets really one need (which is the inconvenient and sporadic hunger pang), but yet contributes to the shortened overall life span of man, what is the sense in having them around? Fast Food restaurants should be abolished and completely done away with, as they hinder the advancement of a more modern day, health conscious America.

Why is it that America and our society has an insatiable hunger for fast food, yet are keenly aware of its negative effects on quality of life? CBS News Associated Press states in their article, Fast Food...
