World War Again 05.01

1.Explain the reasons for U.S. neutrality during the 1920s and 1930s. How did ideas about neutrality change during the period from the end of World War I to the passage of the Lend-Lease Act? Be sure to include any events, terms, or people that may support your response.

The United States wanted to stay separated from foreign affairs; the country was under the policy of isolationism. They had to focus more on domestic problems, such as the rise of the Great Depression when the stock market plummeted.

2.In your opinion, what was the point at which U.S. actions were no longer neutral? Explain your reasoning with supporting details from the lesson.

Neutrality changed through the voice and actions of president Roosevelt, stating that war would reach them even though they would stay separated. This occurred due to Japan's attack on China and his bias toward the Allies that included; France, Poland, and the United Kingdom.

3.Criticize or defend each of the U.S. actions surrounding World War II that are listed below. Justify your opinion with supporting details from the lesson.

Neutrality Act

My opinion: I defend the us and their decision

Justify: Because they had internal problems at the time such as the Great Depression, and they did not have the financial stability to uphold a war.

Crash and Carry

My opinion: I disagree with the U.S.

Justify: As we supplied for the Allies,(France, Poland, and the UK) we did not realize we has made it a greater priority fir the Axis, (Germany, Italy, and Japan) to target us. Our government out or people at risk.

U.S. Aid to China

My Opinion: I support the U.S. In their aid to China

Justify: China was under attack by their neighboring country, Japan needed our assistance. If we didn't aid then, think of how that would differ out world trade system today.

Lend-Lease Act

My Opinion: I agree with the Lend-Lease Act
