Performance management systems are designed to manage employees. Organizations use the following components as a guide to performance managements through objectives, outcome-focused curriculum, strategies that deliver measurable results, and process improvement. Human resources with the primary function to create assets within the organization facilitate performance management. An organization performs effectively when employees are inspired, professionally skilled, motivated, and fulfilled. Below is insight on the components of an effective performance management system, a comparison of performance management to current structures and systems, and integration of performance management.
Components of an Effective Performance Management System
The practice of effective performance management is by executing key component processes effectively. Key component processes consist of planning and setting expectations, ongoing performance monitoring, developing the staff to perform, periodical rating performance summary, and rewarding valued performance. Performance management is a strategy of planning work routinely and setting goals. Through performance management, measuring progress toward designated goals provides feedback to employees. Performance management sets organizational standards to develop job skills needed to reach the objective. In addition, formal and informal rewards are recognized to employees for accomplishments. The collaboration of all five components supports the organization through effective performance management.
