Marketing Research of Kudler Fine Foods

In 1998, Kathy Kudler founded Kudler Fine Foods (KFF); two years after growing the branding of KFF Kathy invested in the expansion of building a second location (Apollo Group, 2011). Historically the grocery retailer expanded to three stores within five years. Kudler Fine Foods is a family-oriented neighborhood food retailer operating in Southern California (San Diego), 30 minutes from the Mexico border. The grocery retailer operations caters to customers from diverse backgrounds, such as Latino, Philippines, Asian, Whites, and Blacks as well as military and civilian customers. The business models of Kudler Fine Foods consist of providing adequate space to showcase their products. For example, retail space of individual stores is 16,000 square feet. Stores are strategically built trendy shopping centers, providing convenience, and better access to customers. The grocery retailer stocks stores with products meeting customers’ demands by offering both domestic and foods imported from various countries.

Strategic Competitiveness is defined an organizations’ style in framing their strategy of achieving competitive advantage. Framework of strategy includes components, such as organizations’ goals and objectives. Other components to strategy may include integrating organizations’ goals and objectives into employees’ performance appraisals. This allows employees to understand better their role and better communicates how their accomplishments help their employer better compete against competitors in multiple markets. Companies, such as KFF demonstrate their ability strategically compete by conducting necessary market research, including product development, pricing, cost, competition in marketplace, and consumers’ demands.
