Intentional murder of Emilia; A prime example of Emilia’s loyalty to her husband, whilst maintaining her virtues, is the incident concerning Desdemona’s handkerchief. Emilia did not steal the handkerchief outright. The handkerchief was taken only once it had been discarded. Emilia was thereby able to fulfill her duty as a wife, in complying with her husband’s demands, in virtuous fashion. Furthermore, Iago ordered Emilia: “Be not acknown on’t” (Act III, Sc iii). As you well know, wives must completely submit themselves to their husbands otherwise it is justified for husbands to kill their wives if they do not comply with them. This includes absolute obedience. So as is required, Emilia obeyed her husband. Moments before Emilia was killed by her husband intentionally, it is obvious that she began to realise what happened, and that the Moor had been manipulated and abused. She just didn’t realise that the master manipulator was her husband. Once she did, she declared that the truth is that Iago is guilty of all of these murders; he reacted, he didn’t think that Emilia had a higher authority to the state and that’s where her allegiance laid until it clicked and he killed her as he knew she wouldn’t stay quiet about his wrong doings since her mistress had just been murdered.

The handkerchief seems to be a dominant symbol of love and fidelity that circulates throughout the play and so when Iago got his wife to steal it from Desdemona, it caused she panic, as it was a token of Othello’s love to his wife, and when he found out it wound up with Cassio, it was the convincer to know that she was sleeping with Cassio.

Following compiling the evidence, the nature of this man seems to give the impression of one who has a few redeeming qualities, as he has the ability to charm and convince people of his loyalty and honesty. But rather, he only portrays those attributes, so he can control people as they are believed that he is a good man with great intentions. (Spark...
