Dinosaurs Before Dark

This story takes place in a tree house, during the late afternoon, in Frog Creek, PA. The characters in the story are Jack, and his sister Annie, Henry the Pteranodon, the Triceratops, the Anatosaurus, and the Tyrannosaurus Rex. This story is about when Jack and Annie climb up in to a tree house where they find lots and lots of books. Jack opens a book that he finds about dinosaurs, and the brother and sister suddenly find themselves transported back in time to the Cretaceous period.

Jack and Annie look out the tree house window and see many species of dinosaurs including the Pteranodon, the Triceratops, the Anatosaurus, and the Tyrannosaurus Rex. They leave the tree house to explore this new place that they have been transported to. The brother and sister pair makes friends with the dinosaurs, except T. Rex, and work together on different tasks that must get done. After getting past T. Rex, with the help of the Pteranodon, and back to the tree house, Jack makes a wish and the magic tree house takes the kids home, just in time to hear their mother calling for them.

The new vocabulary from the story are the words gripped trembled, soared, examined, cautiously, cheerfully, brave, and whisper. The students will define these words, use them in a sentence, and write an antonym for each word.
