First Day Honors Writing Assignment

“When there is a will, there is a way,” this is the motto that I live by. Mo matter how difficult the situation is, giving up should never be an option. Although one particular situation may be very hurtful, there is always something better ahead for you. Perseverance, which to summarize means never giving up applies to personal success in the way that a person should always try to achieve their goals no matter what. Every day that goes by, working on achieving one’s goals and keeping an optimistic view on life should be the primary reason on giving your best.

Those who persevere will have a greater chance in succeeding than those who simply give up. Life will always throw difficult circumstances at people, but it is up to them whether to overcome it by the act of perseverance of fail by giving up. By the words of Lance Armstrong, “Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year… if I quit, however, it lasts forever.” Perseverance is a choice, and it can either be taken in order to succeed, or it can be left untouched and struggle. One’s personal success is in one’s own hands. If someone doesn’t try, things wont come easy. Doctors don’t just get to perform surgery without trying and learning; they study for a large amount of years in order to be able to perform such duties. Even those lucky people who have won the lottery have been persevering. They buy the game ticket periodically in hope of winning. This concept of falling nine times and getting up ten is very true. Persevering in any situation should always be a priority.

Throughout the heartbreaks, losses, or even disappointments, giving up, once again should never even be taken in consideration. One particular situation that my perseverance was at its best was when I was trying to get the girl of my dreams. Day after day, I would try to make her fall for me and I was very persistent until it eventually...
