With diverse population and many different assimilated cultures, America is known as the center of the melting pot that persistently catches the world’s attention every moment. Just like many immigrant families, after many years of struggle and hardships, I finally got to adjust myself here in the land of beauty, opportunity, and freedom, called America. It has been a real honor for me to learn how American society works and how it functions to keep its “number 1 on everything” title for decades and it fascinates me every time I read an article or an essay that demonstrates America’s influence on the whole world. I hated reading or writing English when I first came to this foreign land, but soon, I got to adjust to this friendly, communicative society that constantly urged me to learn more about the writing that can be created in so many different ways. One of my biggest impetus for pursuing a further enrichment in writing is my AP English 11 teacher. Even with my feeble writing skills, she continued to cheer me on and from that, I gained confidence to read more and write more and eventually came to love reading and especially writing with all my heart. I want to continue to develop my English skill by having different experiences throughout my high school career and the Young Writer’s Camp caught my eye at once. Perhaps, it is a coincidence but I believe the program offered is an opportunity for me to sharpen my writing skills. It seems like a very honorable program and I want to thank you for this wonderful opportunity. If I get accepted, I will work very hard and be a leader who creates a positive atmosphere. Once again, thank you all for such an opportunity!
