What will the future bring because of emerging technology?

Nano Solar Cells

The power of the sun is the answer to all of our energy problems. Until we blow ourselves up or destroy the atmosphere to the point where the sun wont penetrate we should be harnessing the power of the sun. Solar panels are far too expensive but an emerging technology in Nano Solar Cells could change the world. A chemist at University of California, Berkeley came up with a way to use nanotechnology to build micro solar panels into materials. Basically if you built theses Nano cells into plastic wrap and wrapped your house the power of the sun would generate enough electricity to eliminate the need for electric. The same technology could be used for all applications were power is needed.

Molecular Imaging

Molecular imaging allows researchers to watch healthy molecules in the body reproduce and grow. More importantly it allows them to watch unhealthy molecules and cells reproduce and transmit its disease to other molecules. Unlike x-ray, ultrasound, and other conventional techniques that give doctors only such anatomical clues as the size of a tumor, molecular imaging could help track the underlying causes of disease, obviously the more we understand about how these molecules work the more diseases we can cure.

Artificial photosynthesis

Artificial photosynthesis chemical process that replicates the natural process of photosynthesis, a process that converts sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into carbohydrates and oxygen. The term is commonly used to refer to any scheme for capturing and storing the energy from sunlight in the chemical bonds of a fuel (a solar fuel). Photo catalytic water splitting converts water into protons (and eventually hydrogen) and oxygen, and is a main research area in artificial photosynthesis. Light-driven carbon dioxide reduction is another studied process, replicating natural carbon fixation. [1]
