Part 1:

1. When a person is infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) we say that he or she is "HIV positive," or "has HIV." A person who has HIV is classified as having AIDS if one of two things happens:

* the CD4 count has dropped below 200/cc, or

* an HIV-related infection or HIV-related cancer develops.

2. The major routes of HIV transmission are exchange of bodily fluids such as blood or semen through sexual contact, sharing needles or you can be born HIV positive from a mother with HIV.

3. A seropositive test result means your blood tested positive for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The most common HIV tests look for HIV antibodies in your body, rather than looking for HIV itself.

4. The average time for an untreated person with HIV to show clinical symptoms from the time of infection is 10 years. Someone with acute HIV May not show symptoms bit as the virus continues to multiply and destroy immune cells, you may develop mild infections or chronic signs and symptoms such as:

* Fever.

* Fatigue.

* Swollen lymph nodes — often one of the first signs of HIV infection.

* Diarrhea.

* Weight loss.

* Cough.

* Shortness of breath.

5. The benefits of Magic Johnson's announcement are that people with HIV or AIDS will be influence to still lead an active life. His announcement brought awareness to the subject because before he made it, people were afraid to speak of it out loud. He risked people viewing him differently and not wanting to work with him because of the fear the uneducated have about HIV.

1. Viral load is a measure of how bad a viral infection is.
