Safety is a top priority at Union Pacific. As a company, they continuously look for innovative approaches to enhance the safety and security of their employees, the communities and the customers they serve. From 2002 to 2012 the employee report injuries were reduce by 58%, railroads crossing injuries where reduce by 15% and safety technology which was also reduce by 15%. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, railroads have the lowest employee injury rates than any other form of transportation. The company work with federal, state and local law enforcement to promote safety and reduce collision at railroad crossing. Union Pacific continue to work toward new technology and better solutions in order to decrease derailments and enhance safety. Their overall goal is to have zero accidents and zero injuries.
