One of the most important decisions companies make is choosing the manager. Though, all of the staff and employees has its own contribution to the make or break of a company, managers have the biggest responsibilities of all. They are the captains of the ships, leaders of the bands and therefore have powers to get the business going or worst, fail. According to blogs.hbr.org, if great managers seem scarce, it’s because the talent required to be one is rare. But what really are the skill sets required to be one? Eatdrinkjobs.com believe that there are four skill sets a good restaurant manager needs. They are the following: Time Management Skills: Successful managers use their time efficiently to meet deadlines and ensure that food arrives at tables in timely manners. Negotiating Skills: Restaurant managers solve problems, troubleshoot complaints, negotiate with vendors, landlords and catering customers, and smooth conflicts among staff members. Delegating Responsibility: No manager can handle all aspects of running a restaurant, so he or she must recognize the skills of other people and delegate responsibilities. Understand Food Issues: Restaurant managers must have knowledge of food safety, restaurant trends and what makes food appealing. Good management skills will lead to better business and more profitable one. Food establishments are the fastest growing business nowadays. We couldn't deny the fact that everyone eats. This is one main reason that there are a lot of people venturing on putting up their own food establishments. Food is one commodity that we are never going to deprive ourselves. Though this must be the case, not every food establishments are here to stay successful and yes for a longer period of time. It could be that there are financial issues, they're selling foods that are no longer in trend, lesser demands or worst management issues.
