Enterprise Technologies and the Value Chain
In order for companies to gain a competitive advantage over their competition, holistic goals and objectives must be put in place and developed. Enterprise Technologies is one example where effective technology management is used by businesses as an aide or tool in facilitating operation management. My intent as the author is to educate the reader of the significant impact enterprise technology is used in a business.
“Manufacturing technology is now following the trend set by information technology: It is becoming less expensive but at the same time offering greater capability to control quality of output, variety and customization” (Walters & Rainbird, 2007 p. 47). Enterprise technologies are crucial to a company’s value chain, benefiting both the supply and demand chain as well. Enterprise technologies help a company become even better and serve as a link of communication between an organization, its suppliers and customers.
Enterprise Technology
With the intent of operating at an optimal level and in satisfying customer’s needs, companies must collect data coming in and process it in order to accomplish this. There are various methods that companies can process the data in its day to day operations. In order to successfully operate, businesses must have a system in place that helps in collecting, processing and analyzing all information entering into the business. Enterprise technology takes information and shares it throughout various departments of an organization.
An example of this is found in a company’s demand chain in relation to improving customer service. “Pega’s revolutionary Next-Best-Action predictively delivers customer-centric offers that lead to greater engagement, revenue, profits and retention” (Pegasystems, 2014)....
