To Better Myself or Not

As a young man, I noticed how important it was to have an education. Both my parents did not finish high school do to certain circumstances in their young adult lives. I observed the struggles of my parents trying to provide for the family through means of minimum wage jobs. I remember telling myself I do not want to make the same mistakes and to improve myself for my future. As I turned 15 years of age and heading to high school, I realized to succeed and improve my future, I would have to complete high school. The decision to pursue a college career was not a second thought but a decision made earlier in my education.

After completing high school I attended Mesa College in San Diego to pursue a career in physical therapy. The program required five years of study to complete. As I began the program I had a change of heart and decided that Computer Science fit my idea of a future career. I had several years of ups and downs in my education pursuits. I took several years off and ventured into the family trade as a concrete finisher; wrong move! The concrete venture proved I needed to return to school and complete the computer training courses. As I moved forward into my core courses I was able to land an I.T position as an intern with the current company I work for.

As an intern I learned the position and many other aspects of I.T operations. I began to feel that I found the future of my career. I pursued certification in the I.T field and read many articles on how to improve myself in the I.T environment. An article that I recently read, mentioned some of the obstacles in continuing future growth. “You want to quit your full time job and work part time so you can go back to school to get that Accounting degree you've always wanted. You know you need a business plan, a improve resume, or you need to move to a bigger city to submit those Movie Scripts...
