Careers in Psychology

Within Psychology there are many different careers that a person can choose. Psychology is a large enough field that if a person is unhappy in one area, they can try a different area. Many people that researching psychology feel as if when they have their degree, they have to stick to one thing. Many different topic areas will include; child psychologist, therapy psychology, depression psychology and clinical psychology. These are just a few to name off.

One job that sticks out the most would be child psychology. Many children tend to feel as if they are alone and that they cannot trust the ones they love. This will happen in such as case as if they are being abused physically and or mentally, they are being bullied and if they have been told to keep quiet about anything. The field of child psychology truly does interest me because I know that in the end, I am making a difference in a child’s or even many children’s lives. It feels good to me that I can help them by giving real life examples and I can be their shoulder to lean on. Within this job, a person should know that everything that comes your way will not be positive and there may be some hard times, but in the end you are the listening ears for those young children and as they grow up they will remember how hard you worked for them. Along with being the listening ears, during this type of job title, you would have to be able to speak with parents and be able to stay calm and not take situations to heart and or personal. Every day will be a new challenge but you have to keep that open mind.

Within being in a school or even being a child psychologist you will need to have your Bachelor’s Degree. Many people think it is a walk in the park and it is a job that everyone can do but that is not the case. There are many skills that it would take to do this sort of job.
