Decisions in Paradise

I arrived to the remote island country of Kava with a general search of how I was going to find a workable solution to expand my company. Although the island is struggling with natural disasters, racial tensions, security, and infrastructure, Chris Morales has still decided to go forth with the decision of increasing investment. Chris believes that we cannot keep taking from Kava, if we don’t give more back. Not only will Aeropostale implement its organizational processes, human resources, and ethics, but the company will also apply smart decision-making techniques. Decision-making is the study of identifying and choosing alternatives based on the values and preferences of the decision maker (Harris, 2009). This paper will discuss a crucial decision-making technique Aeropostale will use, causes of problems and alternatives, and solutions to the problem and its impact.

Decision-Making Technique

The management team for Aeropostale has a mission to provide the island with quality clothing and job opportunities that will inject financial gain for the community of Kava. There are six steps to making effective decisions that Aeropostale will use to find solutions: create a constructive environment, generate good alternatives, explore the alternatives, choose the best alternative, check the decision, and communicate the decision, and take action (Mindtools, 2010). These six steps are a systematic approach to decision-making. The employee’s of Aeropostale will have to utilize these steps in order to achieve a greater presence on the island of Kava.

To create a constructive environment for successful decision-making, Aeropostale will plan on establishing the objectives.
