Energy Conservation 2

One of the biggest problems our world faces today is our energy resources. As of right now, most of the United States uses nonrenewable energy resources. These resources include oil, gas and fossil fuels. These resources, since they are not renewable, will eventually run out. Concern about the exhaustion of nonrenewable energy sources, together with the fact that burning fossil fuels contributes to air pollution and the greenhouse effect, is leading to increased use or investigation of renewable energy resources, which are not exhaustible. Not only are these resources non renewable but they are getting very expensive. For example, just take a look at gas prices and how they have risen in the last year alone. Another problem with these resources is that we have to sometimes go to other countries to get them and this could cause many problems. Many of our wars have been fought because of the constant battle over oil and gas.

Since we are now realizing that these resources may not be around forever, we have begun the search for different energy resources. Researchers have made great strides in finding alternative energy resources such as solar, wind, water and even corn and corn bi product. Solar energy seems to be the most popular and most used. This type of energy resource is created when we use a type of panel that draws in the sun’s energy and converts it to a type of energy resource that we can use. Solar energy is used in everything from electric for homes to now being used to run the heat and air conditioning in some of the new Hybrid cars. Researchers have even found a way to turn corn and the stalks and leftovers, into fuel for automobiles.

Unfortunately, even with the strides researchers have made there are still some people that won’t switch. They still prefer to drive their gas guzzlers and are almost blind to the fact...
