Cloud

The Cloud application has been very interesting to me and sometimes a bit of a concern. I have researched cloud storage as a use for backup. Microsoft Hotmail, which from my research is considered the first cloud application, is the program I use for my personal email. So using cloud has become inevitable. Cloud is available on the Internet managed by a third party. Other types of cloud systems include have uses for business use or research needs; "virtual IT"- configure and utilize remote, third-party servers as extensions to a company's local IT network, "software"- utilize commercial software applications, or develop and remotely host custom built applications, "network storage"- back up or archive data across the Internet to a provider without needing to know the physical location of the storage. (Mitchell) Cloud computing maintains data and applications by using the internet and central remote servers. Consumers and businesses can access their personal files and use applications, without installation, anywhere with Internet access. (Cloud Computing)

Cloud Uses

Cloud computing technology centralizes storage, memory,processing, and bandwidth that makes for better and easier computing. (Cloud Computing) The term "Cloud computing" means Internet storage & applications. With the research I have done, "Cloud" just means "Internet". It means "out there" as opposed to "in" your computer or hard drive. The most famous use of Cloud computing is social networking sites, like Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. Social Networking is mainly used to communicate and keep in touch with other people. Of course, while doing this, you are also sharing the information with the people who run the service.
