A Security Manager’s Role and Responsibilities

A security manager or security administrator is one of the most important jobs of any organization. Although the position of security manager or security administrator may differ from business to business, the main component of the job is to oversee the security operations and procedures for that business. Security managers or security administrators develop and enforce security policies to ensure a safe environment for both employees and visitors. With the different organizations, security managers have key responsibilities that are vital to the daily operations of that organization. To identify the different responsibilities that security manager’s or administrator’s have in different organizations, we can define the key roles of a security manager for the Hospital security manager, network security manager for an information technology company, and a private security manager. Each of these individuals’ roles is crucial to protecting the security needs of their particular organization in their respective fields.

Hospital Security Manager

The hospital risk manager main task is to stop situations that may cause lost or liability to the hospital. The main responsibilities for the hospital security manager include; identifying risk, make recommendations, and manage programs. The hospital risk manager identify risk by examining reports of past incidents and claims, loss and liability reports, risk data report of local and national hospitals with similar cases. Also, they monitor staff behavior or work environment for compliance to policies and procedures, and may even ask the hospital management to submit risk assessment data on staff, patients, and visitors.
