Child Rights

An organization can be built which address the problem of restoring basic rights to the children. 79% children of the 400 million in India (6-35 months) are anaemic.11.8% children in India are engaged in some form of child labour (National Family Health Survey III – NFHS). Thus it is necessary to make them aware of these rights

The basic rights which should be provided to children are

* the right to survival, to life, health, nutrition, name and nationality

* the right to development of education, care, leisure, and recreation

* the right to protection from exploitation, abuse and neglect

* the right to participation in expression, information, thought and religion

These rights should be provided to all the categories of children which may include

* street children

* children in bonded labour

* children of commercial sex workers

* physically and mentally challenged children

* children in juvenile institutions

* children in privileged homes

The organization can be funded through donations by individuals and organizations or through sale of products made by children who are being provided various rights. The firms would contribute as it is necessary for them to contribute 2% towards CSR activities. The products may be hand made greetings cards , things made out of waste, etc. Funds can also be raised by marketing tie ups with corporations, events, schools and college workshops media campaigns, signature drives, advocacy campaigns, the Internet and street theatre ensure that people everywhere can access information on the situation of India's children and avenues to get involved.

By making children aware of their rights and providing those rights their lives could be made better in the following way:

* By enabling motivation and opportunities at various level children would be able to know their potential.

* Able to improve their standard of living by finding themselves a suitable job or starting...
