Issues in Psychological Testing Worksheet

1. What are at least two ethical issues associated with psychological testing? What impact do these issues have on the field of psychological testing?

There are a lot of ethical issues that are associated with psychological testing but the two that I picked are disclosure of test results to minors and how much information can or should you disclose to a patient or in the case of a minor the parents. I believe with the regards to disclosing information to a minor it because an ethical issue because how much information is too much for a child to understand, exceptionally if the child is young. An example: my nephew in second grade was very disturbing to the other students and was unable to sit for long periods of time and he would disrupt the class. So my sister took him to the doctor and they tested him for ADHD. At this time he was only about 7 years old and he really did not understand why they were doing these tests, though my sister did explain to him why and then he was down on himself because he felt that he was “retarded.” Should she or the doctor of told him? Along with the same thing as patients telling them all of their tests results can cause other problems with different results. Once I had been diagnosis with vasculitis, which is inflammation of the arteries. After I was diagnosis I went to WebMd.com and looked up what it was and it freaked me out because I did not completely understand what it was because the doctor did not really understand themselves.
