This essay will focus on Hazelden treatment centers which have five locations in Minnesota, In addition to Minnesota; it has facilities in Illinois, New York, Florida and Oregon. They offer in and outpatient treatment. For individuals, families, and communities struggling with addiction to alcohol and other drugs, Hazelden helps people transform their lives by providing the best addiction treatment and recovery services as well as education, research, and publishing products available today.

Since its 1949 founding in a Minnesota lakeside farmhouse, Hazelden has grown into one of the world’s largest and most respected private not-for-profit alcohol and drug addiction treatment centers. Thousands from every state and more than 40 countries have turned to Hazelden for quality care and expertise on addiction and recovery issues. Our dream is the same as our founders - helping alcoholics and addicts in their recovery.

Hazelden Foundation is an inpatient treatment program for adults who are at least 18 years of age.  Hazelden treats individuals who meet the ASAM criteria for admission to an impatient from III.3 to III.7 level of care.  Individuals must be medically and psychiatrically stable at time of admission.  Hazelden is a 12 step based program that offers individual session, group sessions, specialty groups for trauma issues, Health Care Professionals, Legal Professionals, and a Core 12 program to medically manage individuals who are addicted to Opiates. Hazelden has a fully staffed medical unit and Mental Health Unit along with wellness professionals and spiritual care providers.  Hazelden treats body, mind and spirit (Foster, J).
