Acquire or Develop Talent

My recommendation would be to develop talent. Developing talent will increase work productivity because it gives the employees the tools they need to achieve not only their goals but the company’s goals. It will motivate employees to be better employees, because of the goals and expectations they were given. It will also decrease retention which is the employee turnover rate.

Hire Yourself or Outsource

My recommendation would be to hire yourself. Outsourcing would not be in Tanglewoods best interest because no outsourcing organization will know what kind of employees Tanglewood is looking for. Tanglewood has a specific message and in order to hire employees that understand, respect, and want to be a part of that message Tanglewood needs to hire them. Outsourcing may also take longer and cost more money.

External or Internal Hiring

My recommendation would be internal hiring and external hiring. I would externally hire for entry level positions. This keeps new employees coming in which leads to new opinions and ideas. For anything higher than an entry level position I would hire internally. Hiring internally motivates employees, boosts employee morale, costs less, could save time, and you are getting someone who already knows the organization and its culture.

Core or Flexible Workforce

My recommendation would be to have a core workforce. A core workforce is made up of individuals who are viewed and view themselves as regular full time or part time employees while a flexible workforce is composed of employees who work on an as needed basis and do not view themselves as regular employees. One of the things Tanglewood exercises in each store is that there employees work as a team. All employees are encouraged to make suggestions that could better the company. All employees share all tasks. Having a core workforce would keep Tanglewoods team concept running.
