Communicating effectively involves not only speaking well, but listening well, too. Active-listening tools, help you hold up your end of a successful conversation or discussion.

1. Concentrate on what the speaker has to say.

2. Listen for content and emotion to understand the entire message.

3. Maintain steady eye contact so speakers know your attention is with them.

4. Reflect back with verbal feedback to confirm your understanding of the message.

5. Stay patient when people talk to you.

6. Keep your tone sincere and nonjudgmental when you listen.

7. When you give feedback to check understanding, do so in one sentence.

8. Tune into how the message is being said, not just what the words are.

9. Acknowledge feelings that are important to the message you’re hearing.

10. Make your goal in conversations to show understanding of what the speaker truly means.

The important in this subject is for them to learn more about the topic. They need to enhance their concepts about the topic, ideas to the activity that they will do after the discussion and skills in this subject after the discussions. If the teacher runs out of time, the topics that could not be omitted are the topics that can be discussed for tomorrow. The teacher should know her/his limits when it comes to the time that spends in whole class and if the time would pass by and the discussion is not done yet, the teacher should skip for the topic that is not very important for the discussion.
