About The Opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) operates one of the world’s largest IT infrastructures, supporting over 1,000 user applications on tens of thousands of servers in thousands of server rooms, over thousands of desktops, laptops, medical devices, and mobile devices, and a huge national communications network. Office of Information & Technology (OIT) strives to provide high quality, effective, and efficient Information Technology (IT) services to those responsible for providing care to the Veterans at the point-of-care as well as throughout all the points of the Veterans’ health care in an effective, timely, and compassionate manner. VA depends on Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) systems to meet mission goals.
The Continuous Readiness in Information Security Protection program (CRISP) is VA’s program to continuously address the thousands of information security vulnerabilities that exist in that vast infrastructure. VA’s goal is to reduce the number of vulnerabilities existent to a level that removes a long-standing Material Weakness (MW) in their annual Federal Information Systems Controls Audit Manual (FISCAM) audit caused by those security vulnerabilities
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
The employee shall provide on-site desktop technical and security support services and the employee shall provide these support services on a daily basis, and will:
A. Provide support/troubleshooting of workstation, laptop, network device (including mobile devices), and printer hardware and software.
B. Test and image desktops and laptops using Microsoft Operating System Deployment using the VA provided images.
C. Maintain and troubleshoot software and computer peripherals.
D. Set up and configure all workstation, laptop, network device (including mobile devices), and printer hardware according to VA standards and baselines.
