Small Businesses

After reviewing this website it does not surprise me that there is a different between big business and small business because most of the time small businesses don't last long, they may last for a few years so its no surprise that there are different laws for small businesses. However it is interesting to know that when a company has less than 20 employees and age discrimination is brought up the employee is not covered by the laws that EEOC enforces, so the company will get away with it.

“The U.S. Small Business Administration operates in accordance with Public Law 85-536, called the "Small Business Act," to help protect the interests of small businesses, strengthen the economy, and preserve free enterprise.” The SBA states that sizes matter because different laws apply for big and small business and when they are being evaluated the federal government takes into account the average of number of employees. However there is always an exception to the rules because some big businesses only have about 500 employees. “According to the SBA, some manufacturing companies can have up to 1,500 employees and still be determined to be small businesses.”

However Small businesses are treated differently from big businesses because big businesses bring in more money than small businesses. Also the government only allows for some small businesses in a service industry to make $35.5 million in annual receipts. Small business are also treated differently because of the different strategy that they have to use and they are as followed marketing budging, staffing, creativity, and strategy.

Laws difference between big and small because you have different type of acts that each one has to go through like the Family Medical Leave Act, project label agreements, the Overtime Reform, federal minimum wage, Disabilities and unemployment insurance . Each one of them are set up different for small and big businesses because big businesses has to do...
