Plan Human Resource Management

According to the PMBOK Guide, “Plan Human Resource Management is the process of identifying and documenting project roles, responsibilities, required skills, reporting relationships, and creating a staffing management plan” (p. 258). This establishes roles and responsibilities for the project, organizational charts, and the staffing management plan, to include the timeframes for staff acquisition and release. The first step of this process is to identify the human resource requirements based on the necessary skills that will be required for project success. These resources may come from within the organization or be contracted out to a specified vendor. Developing the human resource plan is one of the most critical steps in a successful project. Selecting the right personnel with the right skills to perform the right jobs takes skill and expert judgment.

Defining the roles

ITRC Manufacturing Enterprises is upgrading their legacy billing system and must establish roles for this project. The roles that have been identified as being filled internally are end user, business analyst, and team leader.

Merriam-Webster defines end user as the ultimate user of a finished product (Merriam-Webster, 2014). This is the consumer of the product, the individual that will be using it in their home or office, the customer, and should be the most important individual to satisfy in any project. The end user’s role in a project is to act as the customer and test all functionality of the new system and provide feedback on usability and errors that they encounter while using the new system.
