Abstract

On today’s competitive market social reasonability should be on any companies top agenda. From fortune 500 companies to small businesses across the United States are taking steps to incorporate socially oriented policies as part of their everyday corporate day decisions. This essay evaluates the current policies of Company Q and its current operations and makes recommendations in how Company Q can incorporate a new set of social responsibility goals.

On a competitive grocery market it is a challenge to any small company to thrive and remain relevant, even at local level. Large grocery chains are expanding all over the country and entering local markets at a rapid pace forcing small locally owned companies out of business.

This factor alone forces the small business owners to adapt to a new business model, a model that incorporate social responsibility as one of their pillars and is imbedded on the culture of the company. Company Q has been forced to close stores due to external factors. Some of those closures may have been prevented if the company instituted a new approach and vision.

Instituting social responsibility means that you as a company care for the costumer and the local community you are trying to cater. Taking in consideration the location of your stores and the local ethnicity of the customer base on those locations cannot be overlooked. If your store is located on a predominantly Latin neighborhood it would make business sense to introduce Latin oriented food brands at your store. Again, the needs of the customers are paramount.

Company Q ignoring repeated costumer requests for a certain type of product for example health-conscience and organic products denotes a disconnection between the company and its customers. Offering organic and other health-conscience is the first step Company...
