Assignment 3

My first experience work for my future career started when I took class MRKG 2380, and I was required to apply for a job. Because of specific amount of time with my past lack of experience I couldn’t find any job in companies, and this was one of my difficulties I faced. But I did find a volunteering job in a local Vietnamese Restaurant as a server, and I think it was a very good experiment, and good start. Whole my actions and work was to provide a good customer service and please my customers and try to convince them to try as more food as possible. Once I got a job I faced other difficulties which are normal for beginners. 5th of September was my first day of work. My manager asked me to come 10 min earlier because that is what servers usually do, so I came on time. The first day training I was very nervous, because I never provided customer service for so many people before. The restaurant itself located on 2910 Hillcroft, and it’s called “Vietnam Coast”. The restaurant serves 20 tables, and there are about 4 servers including me. My manager introduced me to all my co-workers and told me to learn from what they are doing. Who likes to babysit someone, right? They all basically were very busy with their jobs and I just was learning from them, but to be honest it was very hard to learn everything perfectly at the first day…I would say second day too. That was my second problem I faced about this work. But just in a week I learned everything and everybody I work with perfectly, even some of my customers. My manager didn’t allow me to take food orders for some time until I learn the menu completely, so I have been only placing my customers to the tables and taking drink orders. Another problem at this job that I faced was when I was interacting with my customers. I was very nervous and was scared I can do something wrong or accidently switch the orders even though it was just simple food or drink.
