Researchers used descriptive research because it is the appropriate research design for conducting this study. The descriptive research design is a scientific method which involves observing and describing the behavior of a subject without influencing it in any way.”Descriptive research is a valid method for researching specific subjects and as a precursor to more quantitative studies. While there are some valid concerns about the statistical validity, as long as the limitations are understood by the researcher , this type of study is an invaluable scientific tool”. The researchers used a quantitative method in collecting the data for their study. Quantitative method is a research method that relies less on interviews, observations, small numbers of questionnaires, focus groups, subjective reports and case studies but it is much more focused on the collection and analysis of numerical data and statistics.
