Exercise 1

“A User’s Guide to the Century”

I like what this article is talking about, that the issues in the world that cause hard ship locally can affect economic instability globally. The best way to handle this is to handle it on a global scale. Not just one or two nations providing; instead the world helping the world. In the part about catch-up growth and viewing this with a feminist theory, the industrialism in those times needed workers and that allowed women into the work force. Granted equality wasn’t there but it gave part to more women’s self-sustaining and independence. What I feel about Jeffrey’s proposal to create a new department for International Sustainable development is not adequate. If he truly wants to accomplish what he proposes this should be handled on a UN level where the economic struggle could be less one sided as other counties fight each other for economic growth. This article was a little all over the place for a topic. Poverty in the world I see as an endless battle for the reason who do we help first? The countries that we need a political stance in or our country that has plenty to give but because of certain social restraints people aren’t running there leftovers down the street to feed someone else. Education is the key the more everyone is aware and know there is more to things than just what’s in front of them can make a huge impacted.
