Imagery of Fairytales

When reading a short story or any other type of story imagery is used throughout the whole thing, to help the reader better understand what’s going on. In the fairytales Rumpelstiltskin, and Little Snow White by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, imagery is used to create the character as well as to build the meaning of the fairytale.

What we say sometimes defines who a person is or what they are like in some cases, it tells us what is worth more to us that anything else, when the miller tells the king “he had a daughter who could spin straw into gold” (Rumpelstiltskin). He lets us know that he just wanted “to appear a person of some importance” ( Rumpelstiltskin) making the miller into a selfish character.

Mirrors are an everyday things it’s what you see as yourself your personality and in some cases who you are, in Snow white and the seven dwarfs the Queen keeps on asking the glass “Looking-glass, Looking-glass, on the wall, Who in this land is the fairest of all?” (Little Snow White;or, Schneeweißchen) she keeps on asking this even when she thinks Snow white is dead because she is not conferrable about herself, she wants to be the “fairest of all!” (Little Snow White;or, Schneeweißchen). Making her an evil woman fueled whit envy and jealousy that drives her to have the huntsman to “Take the child away into the forest … Kill her, and bring [her] back [the] heart as a token.” (Little Snow White;or, Schneeweißchen). The Queen tries everything to kill snow white after she finds out snow whit wasn’t dead.

Colors are a very important to describe many thing such as moods or emotion but in Snow White color is used to foreshadow events and even the cycle of life as in the creation and the death of life. Snow White is described as a beautiful young lady who “was as white as snow, and as red as blood, and her hair was as black as ebony” (Little Snow White;or, Schneeweißchen) wear every color represents a...
