Week 8 Assignment: Academic Integrity

What is the importance of writing, both academically and professionally?

The importance of writing, both academically and professionally is to be able to communicate with a clear and concise manner. I believe when it comes to writing academically you are require to use a lot of critical thinking which will help form a steady foundation in which you are going to use when you write professionally. When you write professionally it’s important to be able to communicate to co-workers as well as potential clients in a professional manner. Academically and professionally writing are very important because they allow you to communicate to your peers and colleagues in an effective manner.

Why is integrity important in writing?

I believe integrity is very important for writing in academics. I feel being honest in your writing gives others a reason to trust you and help inform others you are responsible. When these characteristics are shown in your writing they also help people understand the kind of person you are. I found when these traits are present they allow others such as school and employer you are worthy of being a part of their organization. I believe that integrity is something we should carry with us not only in school but also throughout our life. 

How can you avoid plagiarism?

The ways you can avoid plagiarism is to be honest when you submit your own work and not use someone else’s. Another way is give full credit to the resources you used to gather your information from and properly post your citations, references and paraphrases this will help you in a big way. Another way is to make sure the information you are using as your facts are also accurate and provide by a reliable sources.
