Action Plan

Example; When I was in middle school I had a Caucasian American teacher and she dislike and had a bad attitude toward African American students. It didn’t matter what they did she didn’t like it. When an African American student would answer a question out loud she would yell at them and say they were wrong, even when they were right. When a Caucasian student would answer a question out loud they were always right, even when they were wrong. My teacher was mean toward all African American students and thought they were dumb…

1. I would say both objective and subjective. Objective which is not influenced by the person feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts. The teacher couldn’t stand African Americans and didn’t care how the students feeling were being hurt. Subjective this is based on or influenced by the persons feeling. The teacher would latch out at the students. In this case I see social group interaction patters, value orientations and verbal language and communication.

2. In this case I see almost all of the barriers; such as, language, preconception, and stereotype, discriminatory treatment and judgment.

3. My teacher need to practice these competencies: be nonjudgmental, pay attention to thoughts and feelings, assume complexity, have patience, keep a sense of humor, show respect and show empathy.

4. Maintain cultural awareness including gender issues, because she needs to learn that she can’t judge people by the color of their skin and get to the person for who they really are.

5. The principal needs to make a good guideline and make the teacher follow it and if they can’t they need to be fired.
