Problem Statement:

UNC’s faculty dental practice has a very low patient retention (20%). This is affecting the financial performance of the practice both in terms of the top line and bottom line. The goal is to analyze the operations at the practice to come up with recommendations to improve the patient retention.

Strengths:

One of the strength of UNC’s faculty dental practice is the school’s brand. UNC is a well-known teaching school and its dental practice is no different. The dental professionals in the practice are well experienced professionals who are up to date with latest best practices. These professionals are also professor. They are always learning and practicing, so in terms of skills and experience they are second to none. The school itself offers a large variety of treatment of dental-related problems, which results in one of the best selection of services that can be offered to prospective customers. The faculty dental practice should leverage all of its assets, especially the ability of the practice to solve complex problems.

Another strength is the UNC network. Being on the UNC medical network means more access to professionals and experts not only within the dental practice but also other services as well. This is not something a normal dental practice can achieve and we believe this is a huge advantage for the dental practice.

Weaknesses:

One of the major weaknesses we identified is the lack of parking space available for the practice. The practice recommends that patients park at Dogwood parking deck, which is a decent sized parking deck. However, the parking deck is...
